Everybody has a thing. Mine is surfing. I’ve been doing it forever. Mostly I surf in Virginia Beach, but I’ve traveled all over the globe. I’m good at it. I’ve earned a living from it, in one way or another, for 25 years. Near the end of 2013, I wondered what life would be like if I didn’t surf. So I quit. It’s as simple as that. I haven’t ridden a wave this year, and I don’t plan to. I’m enjoying my new perspective as a landlubber, but I can’t wait to get back in the water. In the meantime, I’m documenting the journey, reflecting on some of my past experiences, and going off about whatever’s on my mind. It’s sure to be a wild ride, and I’m honored you’ve chosen to take it with me.

  1. Ya you think it sucks surfing in Virginia or I think that’s where I read you live, try being a surfer living in Seattle It sux. And today at westport reaffirmed that feeling I have.
Though I have honestly gotten the best waves of my life in Washington it sux 99.9999999999 percent of the time so when it does get good it’s really challenging to be on it and feeling sharp and in tune with the water. Oh well. I really like your writing.
So the masses know…. The surf in Washington sux. Always. Hang loose. Bissell
